Northampton Summer Concert Series Returns In New Location

Northampton, MA, 7/10/2012---  This summer local music production and development company, The Collective Music Group (TCMG), will once again bring free outdoor live music to Downtown Northampton!

Riding the success of the 2013 season, The Northampton Summer Concert Series will take place every Friday from July 18th to August 22nd in downtown Northampton. One major change in store for the series this summer is a move in location. For the past two years the concerts have all taken place in Pulaski Park; this year however, TCMG will be moving everything to the Old Courthouse Lawn right on the corner of Main and King Street. “We had one concert there last year to test things out, and the response was simply overwhelming.” Said Series Producer, Jamie Kent. “The Courthouse Lawn provides our bands and sponsors with the next level of exposure, and also gives our attendees a much more comfortable space to relax and enjoy the music. It also gives us the opportunity to showcase fantastic local food and crafts, and to develop a new ‘Kids Zone’, which will all be available every concert!”

Music will run each week from 6pm-8pm and will feature rising and established local actslike LuxDeluxe, Roger Salloom, Appalachian Still, and The Snaz, to name a few. It will also feature many nationally rising acts such as The Appleseed Collective, Matthew Szlachetka (seen/heard on NBC’s Parenthood)and SIRSY (featured on HBO and MTVu; tours with Maroon 5, Train and Grace Potter). “The Series continues to give us an amazing opportunity to showcase the wonderful talent rising out of the valley, and to pair them with the best up and coming independent national acts here right before they explode.” Says Kent. “I guarantee in the next couple of years you’ll be saying ‘I danced to that band at the summer concert series!’”

Over the past year The Collective Music Group has established itself in the concert production/promotion scene as a means to enhance the music community of the pioneer valley and support its growing artists. TCMG has also been responsible for the recent production of the Pines Theater SummerFest, the Northampton Comes To Austin SXSW Showcase, and the Valley Rising Compilation Album, which brought together some of the best rising local talent in an effort to share fans, business ideas, and to raise money for the Northampton Community Music Center.

This series is made possible by the amazing support of many local organizations and companies. Cooley Dickenson VNA & Hospice is this year’s rockin Headlining Sponsor. The Northampton BID, Coca Cola, O’Connell Care at Home, Hampshire Power, and A2Z  are all Series Sponsors making free music possible! The Northampton Summer Concert Series will take place every Friday from July 12th to August 30th downtown Northampton on the Old Courthouse Lawn.  Music will run from 6pm-8pm, and every concert is free to the public. In the case of rain, the concerts will be moved inside to The Parlor Room (32 Masonic St. Northampton).
